“Return from Dakar” is the story of a human and artistic encounter. That of three artists selected to represent their country of origin at the International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Dakar last June, Dak’Art 22.

Ilhem Ellouze, the Tunisian, Hyacinthe Ouattara, the Burkinabé, Didier Viodé, the Beninese, thus met for the first time in Dakar, far from France where they all three live. Beyond the budding friendship, each recognized in the work of the other resonances to their own questions and themes of work.

With the desire to continue this artistic dialogue, Galerie Robet Dantec has therefore invited Hyacinthe Ouattara and Didier Viodé to come and exhibit alongside Ilhem Ellouze, artist represented by the gallery.

From the human crowd that accumulates in abstract and colorful forms on the canvases of Ilhem Ellouze, to the textile sculptures and drawings on paper of Hyacinthe Ouattara that give the impression of an amalgam of human cells seen under a microscope, to the figurative paintings on paper or free canvas by Didier Viodé where men and women tell the contemporary story of anonymous people in our societies… these three artists are linked by a kind of evidence.

In all their works, it is a question of the human being, from the singular individual to all of humanity.
