« This glass piece, titled “Mirage,” is the manifestation of extreme heat. A mirage makes us see a glimpse of the sky in the ground, as light rays are deflected by the heat. I found it interesting to note that glass is actually made of sand, and that heat is what causes it to change state. And, as a sign of its original form, a desert appears in negative relief within the glass. The design is etched with a point into the soot deposited by a flame.»
