The Robet Dantec Gallery is taking over Tower 46 in Belfort !

Exhibition from March 1st to 14th, 2026

Opening on Saturday, February 28th, from 5pm to 9pm

Founded in Belfort in 2019, the Galerie Robet Dantec expanded westward in 2023 with the opening of an exhibition space in the heart of Nantes. This departure was accompanied by a promise: to return to the North Franche-Comté region with a new project.

This promise was fulfilled in 2026 with a major exhibition held in the 300 square meters of Tower 46 at the Belfort Citadel, an exceptional site listed as a Historical Monument.

These two weeks of exhibition have been conceived as a “pop-up” event, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary art and showcasing a representative cross-section of the leading French art scene. The exhibition, which brings together some fifteen established artists, unfolds around a common theme. The works often evoke the question of landscape, whether natural or constructed. Drawings, paintings, sculptures, and engravings invite reflection on the place of humankind within its environment and the relationships it maintains with the living world, as well as with the non-living, such as rocks and water.

Nearly fifty recent works, exhibited for the first time in Eastern France, will offer visitors a unique and immersive experience in the world of visual arts.

Tower 46, a landmark of art in Belfort

In the heart of the historic city of Belfort, a stone’s throw from Bartholdi’s Lion, Tower 46 is a bastioned architectural structure designed by Vauban in the 17th century for the defense of Belfort. Pentagonal in shape, built of pink sandstone and brick, it comprises a lower casemated section supported by a massive central masonry pillar and equipped with embrasures for cannons defending the moats. On the upper level, the crenellated platform, covered by a demountable timber frame in times of war, could accommodate seven to eight artillery pieces.

Classified as a Historical Monument in 1971, this structure long housed temporary exhibitions from the Museums of Belfort, featuring a variety of original themes in partnership with major national and international museums.
