Robinson Haas
Born in 1995. Lives and works in Lyon.
Robinson Haas is a graduate of the Geneva School of Art and Design (CH) and the École des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD), Paris.
Robinson Haas’s work revolves around drawing research through the prism of protocols using the body as a medium. These are conceived as visual experiments, like musical scores, which both outline the contours of the work and allow for freedom of interpretation, a place for chance. Through a form of planning the unpredictable, he is interested in creating a dialogue between the determined and the indeterminate, between impulse and its future.
His work focuses on simple gestures, bordering on inaction, repeated until their initial nature is surpassed or transformed. This process seeks to bring out latent states of visual or physical phenomena from which it attempts to reveal a sensitive dimension. The protocol thus appears as a tool to transcend the mundane.
In a slow work posture of meditative performance, the temporal data is subject to modulation of forms; It is as much time that shapes the drawing as the drawing that gives form to time. With a reduced palette, making full and empty coexist, Robinson Haas conceives his works as spaces of contemplation to think about the moment and the fragility of the world.
