ugo arsac
Ugo Arsac is a digital and visual artist based in Marseille.
He graduated from the Beaux-Arts of Paris, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and Fresnoy, National Studio of Contemporary Arts in Tourcoing.
He won the Prix Émergences (Scam) and the Prix des Amis du Fresnoy. He recently exhibited his work at Chroniques – Biennial of Digital Imaginaries in Marseille, the Ososphere in Strasbourg, or DDessin Paris with the Galerie Robet Dantec.
In 2023, he is Laureate of the DDESSIN PARIS Prize and resident of the Villa Albertine in New York.
By combining urban and human, mythology and anthropology, Ugo Arsac produces films, installations, immersive experiences as well as graphic works.
A copy of IN URBE, his latest creation, has just entered the collection of the Espace Multimédia Gantner, a national contemporary art center dedicated to digital arts.
This work, produced by Le Fresnoy, Studio national des Arts Contemporains, is a 3D drawing of the basements of Paris. A hidden, underground landscape, with its “valons”, its “hills”, its “caves”. A body teeming with life with its own organs just waiting for viewers to explore.
“In his installation IN-URBE, the artist Ugo Arsac was interested in the underground spaces of cities. Beneath our feet lies a real labyrinth, a whole world that we cannot guess on the surface, made up of sewer networks, metro lines, crypts and electrical circuits. Like an explorer, he traveled underground in Paris for days, scanning the spaces he visited to create a three-dimensional map, a puzzle of different places. The visitor is invited to explore these inaccessible spaces and immerse themselves in this virtual world.“
Lucie Menard.
